Thanks to your support Democrats have a majority in the County Legislator for the first time in 50 years. My colleagues and I have been diving into existing projects, asking questions and holding meetings. You can follow along by reviewing the minutes on our website or watching meetings on YouTube.
In January, we passed a resolution calling out the misconduct and overreach by federal immigration officials by a party vote. In February, we increased the income limitation for people 65 years of age and older providing some additional relief to seniors on their property taxes. I recommend watching the public hearing and listening to seniors comments.
We also created a Housing & Transportation Citizen Advisory Board to look into how local government can address the housing crisis in Onondaga County. Stay tuned for more information.
I am enjoying meeting and talking with lots of people, organizations and departments learning about projects, process and what’s to come. I am holding open office hours 6:00pm – 7:30pm on Thursday, March 19th at Minoa Library. Stop in if you would like discuss local issues and ask any questions. I will continue to schedule opportunities like this each month around district 10.
I’m honored for this opportunity to represent you.
~ Elaine
