Residents and local leaders joined County Legislator Elaine Denton and County Comptroller Marty Masterpole for a town hall on September 22nd to discuss the 2027 Onondaga County Executive Budget and county issues.
The proposed 2027 executive budget increases overall spending by 5.6% increasing the budget to $1.69 billion dollars staying within the tax cap with a small increase to the tax levy. Sewer rates are proposed to increase from $476 to $490. And the rainy day fund remains full at an estimated $227 million dollars at the end of 2026.
Residents brought up concerns about their total tax bill which includes county, town, village and school taxes, corporate tax breaks and asked questions about senior services, county revenue sources and the plan for the county’s healthy rainy day fund.
Legislator Elaine Denton provided an update our Housing & Transportation Citizen Advisory Board actionable items to help address our housing crisis. And talked about the investment the county is making in food pantries as the need in our communities continues to increase with the federal budget cuts.
