Residents joined Elaine Denton and Marty Masterpole for a town hall on September 25th to discuss the 2026 Onondaga County proposed budget and additional county issues.

The proposed 2026 budget increases overall spending by 3% increasing the budget from $1.5 to $1.6 billion dollars but stays within the tax cap and keeps the tax levy flat. Sewer rates would increase from $454 to $478. And the rainy day fund remains full at an estimated $209 million dollars at the end of 2025.

Residents brought up concerns about families not having access or assistance to child care, oversight of IDA’s and tax breaks, rising utilities costs and gerrymandering.
